Volunteer - Homeless Adult Shelters
Solidaridad is a non profit founded in 1986 with the mission of helping needy and socially excluded adults of the city of Cordoba, who lack basic needs such as food, primary health care, affection, family care and work.
To meet its goals this NGO, has three temporary shelter homes: “Casa de Maria”, which houses up to 20 adults females from 30 to 60 years old, “Casa Felix”, which can house up to 30 adult men younger than 60 years old and “Casa de la Esperanza” which acc...ommodates up to 25 adult males older than 60. The nature of these households is transitory, they help these people to move forward and achieve integration and reinsertion into society by re-establishing links with their families or with new people and groups.
The homes are coordinated and supervised by an interdisciplinary team from different service areas such as Psychology, Nutrition, Physical therapy and workshops for recreation and education, which address their problems and concerns, both individual and collective.
Role of the volunteer
• Workshops: weekly activities that provide recreation and training, such as drama, music, crafts, dance, film, gender issues and others. It is also important cultural exchanges to expand the vision of these deprived people. Volunteer can tell their life experiences from their home countries.
• Treatment of Addictions: collaborating with the treatment of addictions conducted in the institution. Primarily drug and alcoholism addictions.
• Micro-enterprises: skills training for micro-enterprises. Additionally you can train on operational matters of a micro-enterprise (administration, advertising, etc.).
• Therapeutic assistance: involve physical and mental therapy, accompany this people to their medical practices, help them do paperwork in health institutions and local healthcare, etc. Less..

Fundación AFOS (Assistance for the Fortification of Social Organizations) provides free management and structural assistance to support small and mid-sized non-profits (NGOs) in Argentina. In addition to lacking operational expertise, these local NGOs are also generally in desperate need of capable and committed volunteers an interns not only to work directly in their programs but also to help them become stronger, more sustainable and better able to serve their communi...ties.
To help these local NGO’s fill this gap we recruit international volunteers and interns and matches them to a program that interests them and where their knowledge and skills can provide the maximum positive impact.
